Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield agrees to a 3-year, $165M extension

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield agreed Tuesday to a three-year extension worth $165 million, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The new money averages $55 million per season and keeps Mayfield under contract through 2029. Buccaneers.com posted a club stamp calling the deal the largest contract in franchise history. Owner Joel Glazer said the same in the club's statement.

Mayfield was entering the final year of his prior three-year, $100 million deal. A previous Bucs offer of two years and about $50 million AAV had been rejected before camp; talks restarted over the weekend.
