Eagles clear DeVonta Smith but lose Goedert and Brown for Bears game

DeVonta Smith is available for Philadelphia's Monday night game in Chicago, but the Eagles have ruled out tight end Dallas Goedert and receiver Marquise Brown. The team's final Week 3 injury report lists Smith as a full participant Saturday with no game designation after he missed Thursday's practice with a hamstring issue. Goedert has a knee injury; Brown is out with an ankle injury.

The difference between those statuses changes the roster picture for fantasy managers. Smith remains an available primary receiving option after a 10-catch, 117-yard, one-touchdown performance against Tennessee, according to the Eagles' own Week 2 report. Goedert left that game with his knee injury and has not practiced this week. Brown's absence removes another receiver after he had only just made his Eagles debut against the Titans. Philadelphia has not assigned either player's missing targets to one replacement.

The most closely watched roster call is Zach Ertz. The Eagles signed their former tight end to the practice squad this week, but the club says his fitness will factor into any game-day elevation. Ertz said Saturday he had not played football in roughly nine and a half months. A practice-squad signing is not an active-list decision, and even an elevation would not establish his snap share. Philadelphia can also use the tight ends already on its roster.

Dontayvion Wicks and Darius Cooper showed recent involvement against Tennessee: Wicks caught five passes for 74 yards, while Cooper caught the late winning touchdown in the 24-20 victory, the team reported. They may be part of Monday's answer at receiver, but neither has a guaranteed increase because Brown is out. Smith's clearance gives Jalen Hurts an established target while the remaining routes can be divided in more than one way.

The other offensive availability issue is less severe. Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby and Will Shipley are all listed as available on Philadelphia's final report. RSO managers can treat Smith as cleared and Goedert and Brown as unavailable, then wait for Monday's elevation and inactive lists before valuing Ertz or projecting a new receiver pecking order. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. Eastern.
