Mack Hollins restructure gives Patriots $600,000 more cap room but raises incentive bar

The Patriots and Mack Hollins agreed to rework the receiver's 2026 contract, a move that gives New England roughly $600,000 in additional cap space while making his performance incentives more difficult to reach.

The change, reported by Pats Pulpit and separately by NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk, reclassifies the incentives rather than changing Hollins' role in the offense. Hollins led the Patriots in receiving in the season-opening loss to Seattle, so the adjustment carries a football question as well as a bookkeeping one: New England gets room now, while Hollins must hit a higher threshold to collect the same bonus money.

Hollins remains part of a receiver group that also includes offseason acquisition A.J. Brown and quarterback Drake Maye's other targets. The Patriots host Pittsburgh on Sunday, making the restructure timely because it clarifies how the club is managing the cap while it evaluates its Week 2 offense.

The agreement is best read as a flexible roster-management move, not evidence that Hollins is being removed from the plan. His blocking value and size still matter to the Patriots' multiple-receiver packages, while the new incentive structure shifts more of the financial reward toward production.
