Bills list DJ Moore and Keon Coleman questionable, leaving receiver plan open

Buffalo's two injured wide receivers made it back onto the field Friday, but their availability for Sunday's home game against the Chargers remains unresolved. The Bills' final injury report lists DJ Moore, who has a shoulder injury, and Keon Coleman, who has an ankle injury, as questionable. Both were limited Friday after sitting out Thursday's practice. Moore's status has carried over from the Bills' Week 2 win against Detroit. He left that game with a shoulder and stinger injury, and Buffalo ruled him out for the remainder of the night. In the opener against Houston, he caught five passes for 100 yards and a touchdown, according to NBC Sports' review of the receiving injuries. Coleman then caught six passes for 63 yards against Detroit. Those performances show why the final decision on both players matters to a passing game that has used each of them in a different week.

The club has also discussed a contingency. In Thursday's team report, rookie Skyler Bell was described as a candidate to make his NFL debut if Buffalo is short at receiver. Bell's possible activation is conditional. The team has not announced that Moore or Coleman will miss the game, and Friday's limited practices give both a chance to play. Buffalo's inactives on Sunday will establish the actual available group.

There are defensive decisions too. The official report lists tackle Ed Oliver as questionable with a hip injury after he progressed from no practice Wednesday to full participation Friday. Defensive tackle T.J. Sanders and defensive back Jordan Hancock are out. The Chargers' own report lists several unavailable linemen and defenders, but Buffalo's receiver choices are the clearest remaining personnel question for the Bills' offense.
