Minnesota's tight end depth has become a roster question after Josh Oliver suffered a biceps injury in Sunday's win over Tampa Bay. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Monday that Oliver has a torn biceps and will undergo surgery. The NFL's news roundup, citing Fowler, said a regular-season return is a long shot. The Vikings have not announced that diagnosis, a timetable or an injured-reserve transaction, so those remain reported developments rather than completed team moves.
Oliver's absence would change more than the target distribution. Minnesota's official depth chart lists T.J. Hockenson first, Oliver second and Gavin Bartholomew third at tight end. Oliver has started all three games this season, and NBC Sports reported he had played more than half the offense's snaps during the team's 3-0 start. That playing time reflects a role that includes blocking as well as receiving. His three catches for 46 yards through three games are a small part of the personnel decision facing the Vikings.
If Oliver needs a prolonged recovery, Bartholomew is the remaining listed reserve behind Hockenson on the active depth chart. Minnesota could change snap assignments, use different personnel packages or add a tight end, but it has announced none of those choices. Its transaction log listed no Monday move involving Oliver when checked. A practice-squad player is another possible source of depth, yet a promotion should not be assumed until it is filed.

For fantasy managers, Hockenson's role is worth watching, but Oliver's injury does not automatically mean a matching jump in targets. Minnesota may replace his blocking snaps with a different player or formation, and the next opponent's game plan will matter. Bartholomew's placement on the depth chart establishes an available option, not a promised workload. The next useful evidence is the Vikings' injury report and any official roster transaction.
For a front office, the immediate choice is whether the current tight end room can cover Oliver's work or whether another roster spot must be used on the position. The reported surgery makes that a timely question. The club's next announcement will determine whether Oliver is moved to injured reserve and whether the team adds a replacement.
