Cardinals put Will Johnson on IR and promote Starling Thomas V as cornerback depth thins

Thomas gives Arizona an experienced option on its active roster. He started 22 games across the 2023 and 2024 seasons, the team said, then missed all of 2025 after an ACL tear in training camp. The promotion is a roster move, not a promise that he will start or regain his previous workload immediately. Denzel Burke and Kei'Trel Clark are also part of the available corner group, while Kalen King was promoted from the practice squad last week, according to the team's earlier injury update.

There is one possible addition from within the roster. Slot corner Garrett Williams, who has not played in either regular-season game while returning from an Achilles injury, was limited at Wednesday's practice.
