Steelers clear Echols’ injury designation; Ramsey remains questionable

The Steelers removed Brandin Echols’ concussion designation Thursday ahead of their game at Cleveland. Pittsburgh also added defensive lineman Yahya Black as questionable for personal reasons. Jalen Ramsey remains questionable with a wrist injury, and running back Rico Dowdle remains out with a toe injury.

Pittsburgh’s updated official report keeps Ramsey questionable after limited work throughout the week. He has said his decision depends on protecting the broken wrist and playing effectively enough to help his teammates. That decision has not been settled by Echols’ clearance.

The secondary has changed since the original Tuesday report. Joey Porter Jr. has been traded to Dallas; he is no longer an option in Pittsburgh’s Thursday lineup. Echols is now free of an injury designation after clearing the concussion protocol.

Dowdle will miss a second consecutive game. Jaylen Warren carried 17 times for 127 yards and caught three passes for 31 yards in Pittsburgh’s previous game against Cincinnati, according to the Steelers’ report. Those numbers describe the last game rather than a promised Thursday workload.

Black’s addition concerns a personal matter. The team has not supplied further detail, and questionable does not establish that he will miss the game. Cleveland has ruled out Tylan Wallace, Elgton Jenkins and Teven Jenkins.

The inactive lists will establish which questionable players are available at kickoff.
