Drake Maye found Efton Chism III for a 23-yard touchdown with 1:50 remaining, and New England beat Buffalo 29–26 on Sunday to hand the Bills their first loss. Maye then completed the two-point conversion to Rhamondre Stevenson, putting the Patriots ahead by three before Craig Woodson intercepted Josh Allen on Buffalo’s next possession.
Two late touchdowns change the lead
Buffalo had gone ahead 26–21 on Allen’s 34-yard touchdown pass to Keon Coleman with 4:27 left. Coleman had also caught a 24-yard pass on that possession, helping the Bills cover 80 yards in five plays. Buffalo’s two-point attempt was incomplete, leaving New England a chance to take the lead with a touchdown.
Maye answered with an eight-play, 73-yard drive. Hunter Henry gained 14 yards on its opening play, Romeo Doubs added 12 and Chism made a 19-yard catch before his touchdown. The final throw ended in Chism’s one-handed catch in the end zone, a finish that turned a five-point deficit into the winning score.

Allen still had time to respond. After Buffalo reached its 40-yard line, he threw deep toward Joshua Palmer, but Woodson intercepted at the New England 19 with 1:14 left. Henry’s subsequent 12-yard reception moved the chains, and the Patriots ran out the remaining time.
Doubs supplies the earlier scores
New England’s comeback followed a game in which both teams repeatedly regained control. Maye opened the scoring with a 14-yard touchdown to Doubs in the first quarter. James Cook’s eight-yard run tied it early in the second, and Stevenson’s one-yard score restored the Patriots’ lead.
Buffalo scored 10 points in the final minute of the half. Allen’s two-yard keeper tied the game before Tyler Bass kicked a 27-yard field goal with two seconds left. New England opened the third quarter with a 14-play, 73-yard possession ending in Doubs’ second touchdown, a two-yard catch on fourth down.
Bass’ fourth-quarter field goal brought Buffalo within one before Coleman’s touchdown and Chism’s answer decided the game. The sequence required New England to score after losing a late lead, then prevent another Buffalo response.
Workload and receiving roles
The official NFL gamebook credits Maye with 22 completions on 37 attempts for 269 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. He also led New England with 54 rushing yards. Doubs caught six passes for 58 yards and two scores; Henry had five receptions for 62 yards.
Allen completed 23 of 33 for 253 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Coleman finished with six catches for 116 yards, Khalil Shakir had seven for 82, and Cook rushed for 75 yards on 12 carries.
New England gained 405 yards to Buffalo’s 340 and converted both fourth-down attempts. The Patriots improved to 2–2; Buffalo fell to 3–1. For roster managers, Doubs supplied two touchdowns on nine targets, while Henry caught all five of his. Chism’s two receptions produced 42 yards and the winning score; Sunday’s finish does not by itself establish a larger weekly role.
