  • Kenneth Walker III gave RSO managers a 22-carry, 177-yard, two-touchdown afternoon in Kansas City's 30–27 win over Las Vegas on Sunday. The Chiefs' 4–0 start also left a receiving-room concern: Tyquan Thornton was carted off after a 55-yard catch, following Rashee Rice's earlier exit with a hamstring injury.

Thornton finished with five receptions for 111 yards and both of Patrick Mahomes' touchdown passes. His eight targets led Kansas City, ahead of Xavier Worthy's seven. Worthy caught four passes for 70 yards, while Travis Kelce finished with two receptions for 15 yards on four targets. Those are Sunday's recorded opportunities; they do not establish how the Chiefs will divide work in their next game.

Thornton's second score came from 8 yards with 14:50 left in the fourth quarter. Walker had created that opportunity with a 76-yard run on the last play of the third, moving Kansas City from its own 16 to the Las Vegas 8. The touchdown put the Chiefs ahead 17–13.

  • The Raiders answered with two Matt Gay field goals and led 19–17 with 4:53 remaining. Facing third-and-5, Mahomes connected with Thornton for 55 yards. Thornton was injured on the tackle, and a Las Vegas penalty moved the ball to the 2. Walker scored from there with 3:21 left, though the two-point pass to him was incomplete.

  • Jeffrey Bassa then forced Dareke Young's fumble on the kickoff. Jack Cochrane recovered at the Raiders' 22, giving Walker another scoring chance immediately.

  • His 22-yard touchdown run came at 3:02, just 19 seconds after his first score, and Kansas City led 30–19 after the extra point.

  • Walker accounted for 22 of the Chiefs' 26 rushing attempts and added one catch for 2 yards. The team had already reported his AFC Offensive Player of the Month award after a league-leading 360 rushing yards in September. Sunday's workload and explosive run add another substantial result to that opening stretch.

Las Vegas also produced useful receiving volume. Kirk Cousins threw 52 passes, completing 31 for 365 yards and two touchdowns. Brock Bowers had six catches for 86 yards and a late 20-yard score on 11 targets. Michael Mayer caught eight of his 10 targets for 82 yards. Ashton Jeanty totaled 58 rushing yards on 15 carries and 68 receiving yards on six catches, with eight targets.

Bowers' touchdown and a two-point completion cut the deficit to three. The Raiders got the ball back after a Chiefs punt, but Xavier Nwankpa intercepted Cousins near the end to settle the game. Las Vegas fell to 3–1.

In a Sunday-night update, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Thornton dislocated his ankle, which doctors put back in place. He flew home with the team and will undergo a full evaluation and seek a second opinion Monday. NFL.com reported that he is out indefinitely; there is no specific return date. The Chiefs have a bye before hosting the Chargers on October 18, leaving roster managers a gap between Sunday's injury news and the next game. Rice's hamstring status and Thornton's evaluation need subsequent team reporting before assigning either a return date.
