Texans put Mario Edwards on IR and promote Chris Braswell
Houston changes its defensive-line depth before facing Dallas after a reported ACL injury to Edwards.

The Texans placed defensive tackle Mario Edwards Jr. on injured reserve Wednesday and promoted defensive end Chris Braswell from their practice squad. The moves change Houston's defensive-line depth before Sunday's home game against Dallas, with the Texans still seeking their first win.
KPRC2 reported that Edwards tore his ACL in Sunday's 19-17 loss at Indianapolis, according to Field Level Media's account of the injury. Houston's official transaction announcement confirms the injured-reserve placement but does not provide that medical diagnosis. The reported ACL injury therefore remains attributed to the independent reporting.
Edwards had six tackles and one sack across Houston's first three games, totals also recorded on the team's player statistics page. His absence removes a veteran from the interior rotation. Braswell's promotion adds an active-roster defensive end; the transaction does not say he will take Edwards' exact assignment or establish a new starting lineup.

The club also signed defensive tackle Aaron Graves, linebacker Caleb Johnson and receiver Treyvhon Saunders to its practice squad and released receiver Bryce Oliver. Graves gives Houston another developmental option at defensive tackle, although a practice-squad signing does not itself make him part of Sunday's active lineup.
Edwards is in his third season with the Texans. Field Level Media reported that the 32-year-old has played 144 career games, including 45 starts, across seven teams since 2015.
The Texans, 0-3, host Dallas, 1-2, on Sunday.
